In Conversation with Palak Chauhan on “Youth and Spirituality”
The youth
nowadays are very keen in the spiritual paths. We at Rameshwaram Literature
club have taken up the responsibility on talking to the youth on this topic
“Youth and Spirituality”. Let us meet Palak Chauhan who is a great writer and
has taken part in several social activities. Most importantly she is a follower
of Lord Krishna and admires Krishna and has been interested in the spiritual
path as well. Let us know more about this from her.
Q1) Palak,
tell us about your background as an author and since when have you been in the
writing field?
Ans: I
started writing when I was 11 years old, during my school days I had a
different connection with writing and English Literature. Till now, I have
published my articles on my websites, I have also participated in various
anthologies in the long run and also, I have won various prestigious awards for
my contribution in the field of literature.
Q2) Tell us
your experience with meditation. Do you feel meditation actually helps the
youth or there are significant changes while one does meditation.
Ans: I
started meditating after my 12th grade when I was suffering from
depression it actually changed my life, I consulted many counselors but they
didn’t help me. After meditating, there was a significant change in the way I
looked at life everything seemed to be so positive and I was happy again. Yes,
absolutely mediation helps the youth because when a person meditates he/she
tries to calm down his/her inner self attaining peace and an increase in the
chakra energy.
In our
Vedas, there is a significant importance given to meditation as it is one way
through which humans can connect with God and when a person meditates there is
a change in their personality and they feel positive without any motivation a
person cannot meditate I would say that it is difficult but not so difficult
when a person ascertains that he/she will meditate.
Q3) Tell us
about your favorite religious festivals and how do you celebrate these
festivals with your family.
Ans: Each
and every festival in India, is important and it cannot be compared because
these festivals have their own pomp and show growing up in a family surrounded
by teachings and devotion of Lord Krishna, I feel that in so many years
Janmashtami has become my favorite. We celebrate Janmashtami by doing
Abhishekam of the Lordships Radha and Krishna my mom prepares hot and delicious
bhoga for the Lord and we dress him in beautiful outfits and then we all go to
Iskcon Temple Kharghar without fail.
Q4)
Nowadays a lot of social media channels throw light on several information
related to spirituality. Do you feel these channels help in creating a positive
change in the youth of today?
Ans: See, I
don’t want to target any media channels but somewhere around I personally feel
that they are misguiding the youth by spreading different myths which is not
good for the society. As Lord Krishna, states in Bhagavad Gita that even if
someone offers me a Tulsi leaf with utmost love and devotion I accept it with
open arms God cannot be attracted by mantras just by love and surrender unto
him. As a youth you should be connected to a spiritual platform because it
helps you in battling the hardships in life and that’s why I always say that
spirituality is important.
Q5) What
would be your advice to the youth on this topic?
Ans: My
only advice to the youth on this topic would be that we should all be connected
to spirituality and its roots because if you are not connected to spirituality
then you cannot achieve highest form of perfection in life ever. Temple is a
center where you can learn everything about its not a boring place but a forum
to connect with God who is the supreme personality of Godhead parents should
actively tech their children about spirituality then they will be able to
observe a significant change in their life.
