In Conversation with Author Mona Sharma

Mona Sharma has authored the book “Anecdotes of a Mother.” She is a wonderful writer, and her books are a major help to today’s generation. Every author has a unique journey. Let us know more about her in this interview.

Q1) We are so glad to have you in our interview series. Do tell us about how did your writing journey began?

Ans ::I had a collection of stories since a long time.

I would be regaling my family,  my friends and my students with funny and interesting anecdotes. It was their constant encouragement and pressure that made me pen them down and put them in the form of a book

Q2) Parenting is one of the most responsible work that a person has to go through. Do you feel parenting has evolved or changed over the time?

Ans :Parenting has definitely changed over the time. Earlier there used to be joint families, now we have more of nuclear families.  The lady of the house has also ventured out and donned a number of hats. All this has somehow squeezed the time parents now have with their children. This has greatly impacted parenting.

The values, ethics, patience, moral stories  that our grandparents used to inculcate in us are hardly there nowadays.

Q3) What were your thoughts when you started curating the book and tell us your thoughts behind the book .

Ans : Ideas and stories for the book, I had been accumulating for a long time.

I had always wanted to put it on paper. So during covid times, when I had ample time on my hands, I started writing.  Subsequently  I compiled them in the form of my book.

I had been regaling my audience with stories, so I thought of reaching out to a larger audience  through my book.

Q4) Do share the link of your book and tell us how was the entire process starting from writing the initial draft, to finding the publication and publishing it ?

It started with me putting my stories on paper.  Later on when, I decided to convert it into a book, I happened to come across ‘Bluerose publication’ through Instagram. I contacted them and submitted the initial draft in MS Word. From there the journey started. I got an editorial team to smooth out the rough edges and correct grammatical errors if any.

I got illustrations made and found suitable quotes which I added to my book.

Q5) What would you suggest the young authors who wants to take up writing as  a career?

Also tell us about your hobbies.

Ans : If anyone wants to write a book, they should first be very fluent in the language in which they want to write and should also have a large reservoir of words, ideas and stories. All this can be done only if one is well read. Reading maketh a man, is not said without a reason. One must find one’s own expression and work on it.

I have numerous hobbies. To begin with I love reading. Apart from that, I love teaching also. I find young students very keen and impressionable. They absorb everything you say. So I enjoy teaching them.

I also love travelling. I like to visit places and be one with nature.
